Mittuniversitetet

Mittuniversitetet is a university located in Sweden with campuses especially in the cities of central Sweden. The university now has two campuses in two cities, Östersund and Sundsvall. The real name of the establishment, which was established on July 1, 1993, was the Central Swedish High School (Mitthögskolan). Then, the branch in Sundsvall and Härnösand was merged and the branch in Östersund got its present name. Both colleges before the merger were established in 1977. In 2001, the institution was placed in the same position as the university providing services in the field of natural sciences and information technologies. In this way, this university has gained the authority to give doctorate degrees. Due to all these features, the Swedish government institution officially became a university on January 1, 2005.
