Generally referred to as the University of Wurzburg, the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (abbreviated as JMU) is a public research-centric university in Würzburg city of Bavaria state, Germany. Established in 1402, it is known to be amongst the oldest institutions of higher education in the country. It was shut down in 1415 due to some development issues but reopened in 1582. The university is associated with Coimbra Group and U15 group of research-intensive German institutions.
