Barnard College
Barnard College is a private women's liberal arts university founded in New York in 1889 by Annie Nathan Meyer. Today it is one of the oldest women's colleges in the world and the only women's college in the city. In the college, where some academic and athletic programs are combined. Students can also take classes from Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Jewish Theological School, and Columbia University. Barnard offers courses in around 50 fields of study, primarily relating to the arts. The most popular majors at the college include Economics, English, Political Science, History, Psychology, Biological Sciences, Neuroscience, and Computer Science. A four-day festival called the Athena Film Festival is held every year at Barnard Now and where women and leadership is celebrated. In addition, the college, which has a large library, has a 4-acre university campus located in Upper Manhattan.
