Brief Information About Rice University

Rice University is a highly competitive research university that is defined by scientific research efforts and different student honor codes. It is located on 300 acres in the center of Houston, Texas. Students can select from over 50 different courses and have a great time at this institution. Engineering is the school's most popular major. Aside from that, social sciences and biology are also prominent majors. The school, which began in 1912 and is currently an undergraduate-focused research university, is named after William Marsh Rice's assassination.

Its emphasis on education is backed up by a small student body and a 6:1 student-to-faculty ratio, and it has been named a top institution for undergraduate teaching nationwide. With $140.2 million in sponsored research funding in 2016, the University has a relatively high level of research activity for its size.

How To Apply?

- Official Test Scores: SAT or ACT. (Rice also recommends taking two SAT Subject Tests related to your proposed field of study.)

- You must provide official TOEFL or IELTS results if English is not your first language or you have not taken English class in school.

Admission To School

US News & World Report ranked Rice's admission process as "very selective." Rice had 17,951 freshmen applications in the autumn of 2015, with 2,865 being admitted. The acceptance rate is around 15%.

There are two types of postgraduate programs: (1) research-oriented programs that lead to Master's, Master's, and different doctorate degrees, and (2) professional programs that primarily provide advanced training and lead to master's degrees in certain areas. Rice's undergraduate programs often demand full-time attendance.
