On campus, seven out of ten students reside. Students can select from 40 different houses, ranging from small special interest sections to typical dorms and shared apartments. There are a total of 25 homes. Students regularly organize debates, invite guest lecturers, and arrange a variety of events together, just like they do at residential institutions. Upper-class students can live in one of 15 special interest homes, which represent a certain cultural or intellectual interest. Each student plans a range of events that are open to all students, not just residents. At the university, shared flats are frequently the most popular.
Sophia Gordon Hall (SoGo) is a popular hangout for both young and old. The university's students are served by two main dining halls. Dewick-MacPhie and Carmichael are two of them. Each dining hall offers a unique food and ambiance. Both provide a multi-station European-style service. Since 2005, Tufts has been recognized in the category of "Best Campus Food."
