Loughborough University is 90 minutes north of London in Leicestershire. The institution, which was founded in 1966, now has over 16,000 students enrolled. International students from over 100 countries make up around 15% of these pupils. All major national rankings place Loughborough University in the top 15 universities. 'Whatuni' named it University of the Year in 2015.
Loughborough University is the largest greenfield campus in the United Kingdom. The Times / Sunday Times University Guide 2014 awarded it Sports University of the Year, and it is widely regarded as the greatest sports college in the country. Loughborough University sent 90 athletes to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
For its achievement in a variety of higher education events, the University was shortlisted for the 'University of the Year' category at the 2015 Times Higher Education Awards. At the same time, it was nominated for the “Entrepreneurial University of the Year” award, which recognizes the advancement of entrepreneurial culture in higher education.
International students can take advantage of a free airport pick-up service provided by Loughborough University, which is available at various times until the start of the academic year. The Overseas Office hosts an orientation session at the start of each semester to acquaint international students with university life and the resources available to them. Before the commencement of the semester, the institution offers English preparatory classes lasting up to 10 weeks.

In 2015, “Whatuni” selected Loughborough University “University of the Year”. For the previous six years, it has been voted #1 in the Times Higher Education Awards' 'Best Student Experience' category. In the Lloyds Bank Survey, it was also voted the top university in the UK for student quality of life and Sports University of the Year.
Loughborough University is ranked among the top ten universities in the United Kingdom for research quality. The university's research in the "global leader" category has grown by 37%, according to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.
For their applied research, Oxford University and Loughborough University have each earned the coveted Queen's Anniversary Award seven times.
Loughborough University has 16 big dormitories, seven of which are dining halls, six of which are self-catering, and three of which are private dorms affiliated to the university. Accommodation is guaranteed for overseas undergraduate students for two years.
By train, Loughborough is 90 minutes from London. It's close to Loughborough, Nottingham, and Leicester, among other important cities. While students enjoy convenient access to shopping, entertainment, and leisure, Loughborough preserves the charm of a small market town.
