Sheffield University, located in the north of England, is one of the world's most prestigious institutions. Sheffield is a member of the Russell Group, an elite university group, and is one of the original “red brick” institutions. According to the QS World University Rankings, it is among the top 100 universities in the world. Three colleges were merged to become the university in 1905. It has over 27,000 students from 120 different nations. Sheffield was named the top institution in terms of student experience in a 2015 poll conducted by the Times University Guide.
Sheffield University has five Nobel Laureates and six Queen Laureates among its professors. The university is built on the foundation of world-class research universities, and it has had great success in the areas of systems engineering, intelligent materials, and stem cell technologies. The International Student Support Service and the Student Union offer an international student advice system that helps students with personal or private issues.The English Language Training Center provides classes in any topic as well as general language support.
