Information About The University of Glasgow

The University of Glasgow is the fourth oldest university in English-speaking countries, having been founded in 1451. The University of Glasgow, which is located in Scotland's main city, is one of the top 100 institutions in the world, with 20,000 students from over 120 countries enrolled. Glasgow is also a member of the elite Russell Group of research institutions in the United Kingdom.

Services For International Students

The Student Advice Service is part of the University of Glasgow's student support network and is available to all enrolled students.

When foreign students arrive at Glasgow Airport, the Welcome Team welcomes them and provides free transportation to their new student housing. The International Student Service also hosts an orientation session for international students at the start of the semester to assist them in settling in. International students can also take pre-sessional English classes.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided for international students who apply by the deadline (typically in August). Accommodation units with a maximum capacity of 3,500 people are located on the city's northwestern outskirts, about a 45-minute walk from the main campus.

Location

Gilmorehill and Garscube are the two main city campuses of Glasgow University. In Dumfries, south of Glasgow, the university maintains a third campus.
