The University of St. Andrews is Scotland's oldest institution, having been founded in 1413. It is the world's third oldest university among English-speaking countries. Despite its modest size, St Andrews has long served as the political and theological heart of Scotland, due to the university's renown in the humanities, notably theology and philosophy. 900 students from over 130 countries make up a major percentage of the town's population, and St. Andrews is more than just a campus; it embraces the whole community.
In Scotland, university education lasts four years, and this is exploited to give additional flexibility at the University of St Andrews. Students apply to one of four faculties (Arts, Theology, Medicine, or Science) and study for a degree in modules, with the option to specialize in the last two years. The University of St. Andrews offers free English language assistance to students before and during the academic year. Two foreign student advisers are available at St. Andrews University to give general advice and support as well as particular assistance. st. Andrews is devoted to recruiting the brightest students regardless of financial circumstances, and provides foreign students a variety of funding possibilities. These scholarships are offered to students in order to help them sustain themselves while at university.
Every undergraduate student is allocated a research advisor, who they must meet with at the start of each semester to explore their course options. Counselors also meet with students at various periods to help them navigate the complexity of the modular system and guarantee that the student's paths or alternatives to the preferred profession stay open.

The Times University Guide has rated St. Andrews Scotland's best university for the previous nine years, and it was awarded Scottish University of the Year four times in a row from 2011 to 2015. In 2020, it was named University of the Year in the United Kingdom. St. Andrews University's research was designated as "world-leading" or "internationally excellent" after earning the Research Excellence Framework in 2014, and at least 98 percent was internationally acknowledged. All of its chemistry, physics, classics, and art history presentations went smoothly.
All undergraduate freshmen who apply for housing by June 30 will be guaranteed a place at St. Andrews. There are about 4,000 rooms in the city, with single, shared, shared or en-suite rooms available, and over 40% of them are catering. Students do not live on a single campus, but rather in various locations across the city.
The resident halls at St. Andrews University range from magnificent stone structures with antique elements to fashionable new apartments designed to meet environmental and sustainability standards.
The village of St. Andrews is situated on a rocky bluff overlooking the North Sea's spectacular seas. This little, ancient village is home to only 22 people, including students. Bishops, monarchs, saints, and martyrs have all used buildings that are still standing as majestic memorials over the millennia.
St. Andrews is 80 kilometers northeast of Edinburgh, and the institution does not have a campus; instead, it encompasses the whole town.
