York University was created in the city of York, which is steeped in history. The university, which was founded in 1963, includes a number of partner colleges. It is made up of nine colleges that provide students with housing and academic instruction.

In previous years, Times Higher Education and the Sunday Times have honored York University “University of the Year.” It is also one of the six postwar institutions that has been ranked among the top 100 universities in the world. All of the university's lodging options are either on the main campus or within walking distance. With a total of 4,000 rooms, each college has its own housing facilities. On both campuses, there are eating options and most rooms have private bathrooms.

Location

York, with its majestic York Minster church and one of England's two archbishops, remains the ecclesiastical center of the north of England. Some areas have a vast range of architecture, including the ancient Roman city walls.

York is a culturally rich city with a plethora of theaters, symphony venues, tiny independent cinemas, and eateries. By train, London is about two hours distant, and the major university campus is only a 20-minute walk from the city center.
