Founded in 1961 under the name Virginia Wesleyan College, the school opened its doors to its first students in 1966. The school, which gave its first graduates in 1970, has produced thousands of graduates since then. With the developed curriculum model, which was introduced in 2011, it enables students to learn by practicing, link theory to practice and relate their education with the real world. Virginia Wesleyan College gained university status by the Virginia Council of Higher Education at the beginning of the 2017-18 academic year and became known as Virginia Wesleyan University.
