Nagoya University is a Japanese national university located in Chikusa-ku, Nagoya. It was the last Imperial University in Japan, one of the Designated National University and selected as a Top Type university of Top Global University Project by the Japanese government. It is the 3rd highest ranked higher education institution in Japan (72nd worldwide).
The university has 9 faculties: Law, Medicine, Engineering, Letters, Science, Agriculture, Economics, Education, Information Culture and also 13 graduate schools.
İn the Nagoya University students can apply to Athletic Association. It is an organization controlling the extracurricular field of athletics intended for the purpose of improvement in physique, cultivation of character, and promotion of mutual friendship of the members. There is also the Federation of Liberal Art Circles. For the purpose of fulfilling campus life, the federation was founded in February 1961 to improve the activity's effect through better communications between circles, increase in literacy of students, encourage better understanding of each other and enhance friendship, as well as promoting and developing cultural activities. The university also organises the Festival "MEIDAI-SAI". It is the biggest university festival in Tokai region, boasting the annual number of visitors nearly 50 thousand.
