Nakhchivan State University was established in 1967 as the Nakhchivan branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute. In 1990, with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, Nakhchivan State Pedagogical Institute was transformed / redesigned into a university. Nakhchivan State University gained the status of autonomy and autonomy with the historical decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev dated June 12, 2002. Currently, approximately 5,000 students in 47 specialties in 11 faculties are studying at Nakhchivan State University. There are 12 education buildings, Electronic library, Social service center, University clinics, Olympic sports center, 2 stadiums, Botanical garden and modern student dormitories on its land.
