Decision making can be defined as the process of making a vital choice or action on an important issue, especially when working in a team or organization.
From the food we want to eat to the people we want to hire, these are all decisions that we make almost every day in our lives. Our decisions greatly influence our actions and are therefore an integral part of our lives.
It is the process of making the right choices by analyzing a situation, combining information and evaluating other similar decisions.
This decision-making process helps you make the best decisions by evaluating all the information and alternative solutions. This ensures that the decision made will be the best and most satisfying decision.
If there is a need to make a decision, it is very important to clearly define the nature of the decision at the beginning.
Gather all the necessary information to make the right decision. It should be done in two parts
Get information through self evaluation
Get information through books, internet, etc.
You will definitely encounter many ways or alternatives during the information gathering process. You can even use your imagination to create new alternatives.
When you get a list of possible alternatives, you need to analyze each option and evaluate the outcome of each alternative. Check if it is suitable for the first step. Rank the alternatives in priority order.
After all the considerations, you should choose the best alternative that suits you. You can also benefit from combining 2 or more alternatives.
Now it’s time to perform the action by starting to apply or use the alternative selected in the step above.
There may be some situations where you trap yourself and tend to make deceptive decisions out of anger, sadness and pride. This clearly shows that emotions can be dangerous. They are more provocative and can get you down with wrong decisions.
Before you decide, think in a relaxed mind. Control your emotions and make appropriate decisions. Then all you need is to think logically and intelligently.
Nobody is perfect from the start. We all tend to make wrong decisions at one point or another. However, this does not prevent us from thinking rigorously about our next decision.
We have to make decisions almost every day. So we shouldn’t be afraid of it. The best way is to learn from our past experiences. We must gracefully accept our past mistakes and seek appropriate decision making so that we can make the right decisions next time.
