Purdue Institution, situated in West Lafayette, Indiana, is a public research university. Purdue University was founded in 1869 and its first classrooms opened in 1874 with only 6 professors and 39 students. It has now evolved into a large university with over 200 departments and over 40,000 students spread over 13 colleges and faculties.
