Montenegro was one of the six republics that made up the former Yugoslavia. After the breakup of Yugoslavia, Montenegro joined the new Yugoslavia by the force of Serbia. With the efforts of Montenegro, a more flexible federation framework was created in 2003 as Serbia-Montenegro.
